BIRT Reports include palette components that support charting. The configuration of chart components is simplified when the result set includes numeric data. The HCL Compass Client now supports enabling the Count aggregate function.

In the display-field editor, the (Count) field is listed as the first display field. If you include the (Count) field when you design a query, the generated query includes a Count (dbid) aggregate. See the CountBy State-Severity-Priority.qry included with the report samples for an example.

Note: If you create a query with (Count) as a display field, the result set does not return individual records. The result set is a count of all rows that match the settings of the provided display fields, and attempting to open an individual record from the result set causes an error.
