About integration packages, configuration, and testing
Before integration, you must ensure that the data from the integrated application is compatible with the code page for the Compass database. If you add additional record types after adding a package, you can enable the package functionality for those record types using the Designer.

An integration package integrates an external product with HCL Compass. Following is a summary of the Compass integration packages.

As an administrator, you can add a software configuration management (SCM) application that provides tracking and controlling changes in the software.

As an administrator, you can add a software configuration management (SCM) application that provides tracking and controlling changes in the software.

The SCM Integration package provides a loose integration between Compass and SCM applications such as HCL VersionVault Express, GitHub, and GitLab. SCM users will record their SCM event actions, such as: Activities, Pull Requests, Commits, and other activities, on corresponding Compass records.

SCM users do not need to login into Compass to make those updates.

Events recorded in Compass records will contain data describing the event and a link to the complete event data originating from the SCM application. A Compass user can view a summary of each event, or the whole summary, all from within the Compass application.

A Compass record can have multiple events sorted on event date to give the reader a complete picture of all the SCM events associated with the record.
