LDAP configuration steps for HCL Compass

Introduction to basic LDAP configuration commands.

To configure LDAP authentication between a HCL Compass database set and a specific LDAP directory, use five installutil subcommands. It is a good practice to run these subcommands on a test database set first before you run them on a production database set. For your convenience, you might want to create a batch script of these subcommands. For details of the installutil syntax, see Syntax .

The topics listed below use the example answers from the LDAP questionnaire in LDAP information worksheet as arguments in the installutil command-line examples. Each step shows the command-line syntax before the example. The syntax identifies arguments that come from the LDAP questionnaire by listing the questionnaire's letter in brackets. For example, <A> refers to the host name of the LDAP server.

If your team uses MultiSite to replicate its database set, see MultiSite considerations before you run the installutil subcommands.

The examples in these topics assume a nonSSL use case. Additional configuration steps are required to use SSL communications. See Enabling SSL Encryption with GSKit for details.

Run the installutil subcommands from the Windows™ command prompt.
