Administration tools

Administrators of the change request environment use various tools for managing schemas and databases and for administering users.

The following tools are available:

  • HCL Compass Designer - for viewing and editing schemas
    • A multi-tabbed editor so that all information for a record is available in one editor
    • Perl syntax highlighting and error checking
    • Error visualization upon schema validation
    • The ability to view the history of all schema revisions
    • Structural comparison of schema versions
    • Filtering mechanism to filter out unwanted schema elements from the workspace
  • HCL Compass Maintenance tool for creating and managing schema repositories, user databases, and database connections
  • HCL Compass Export tool for exporting data from a user database to an external file
  • HCL Compass Import tool for importing data from an external file to a user database
  • HCL Compass User administration tool for setting up and administering users and user groups
  • HCL Compass Full-Text Search Administrator tool for setting up, configuring, and administering the full text search feature
  • Note: Compass 64-bit does not support the E-Mail reader functionality.
