Product sets

Catalog subsystem URLs include all logic and data relevant to product sets.

A product set is a list of products that is used in catalog filtering. A product set can be used to include multiple products in contract terms and conditions or excluding products from contract terms and conditions. Contract terms and conditions can be used to provide price adjustments to the products in a product set for a customer. Product sets are used in catalog filtering with Management Center. Product sets are used by the Management Center Catalog Filter and Pricing tool processes to manage catalog filters, but product sets do not actually display in Management Center.

There are two types of product sets:
Standard product sets
These sets are a list of products that is synchronized with updates to your catalog. If a new category or product is added to or removed from the master catalog, the product is updated to reflect the changes. A customer that has a contract that uses standard product sets is entitled to these updated products within the product sets for their contract. Standard product sets can be created to include all products within a category. You can create a standard product set for a category by selecting the "To be used in contracts" check box in the Product Management category tool.

You can set a standard product set for a category from HCL Commerce Accelerator as well as Management Center. However, Management Center is recommended.

Custom product sets
These sets are fixed lists of products that are created at the time that a contract is published. Any changes to your master catalog are not reflected in custom product sets. A customer that has a contract that uses custom product sets is entitled only to the list of products that are created at the time that the contract is published. When you add a product to the Catalog entries, to include or exclude the grid, two product sets are created for each grid. One product set contains the product and the second product set contains the SKUs of the product.
