AppScan 360° Static Analysis
Static analysis has changed: what was once a security tool is now a core development application. That evolution called for an evolution in the technology. AppScan 360° Static Analysis (AppScan 360° SAST) is a micro-services based, Kubernetes-managed environment that provides static analysis scanning capability in AppScan 360°. AppScan Central Platform (ASCP) communicates with AppScan 360° Static Analysis to execute scans submitted by the end users.

Installation
- AppScan Central Platform
  The AppScan Central Platform is the foundation of HCL AppScan 360°. It includes the browser-based user interface, APIs, and core server components. The AppScan Central Platform (ASCP) also requires the customer to provide an SQL Server DB and Active Directory (via LDAP).

Static analysis
Use static analysis (SAST) to scan for security vulnerabilities in web and desktop applications. Static analysis includes Intelligent Finding Analytics (IFA) and Intelligent Code Analytics (ICA).
Results
The Scan History tab of your application displays your scan results (including scan statistics) and rescan options.

About the runtime environment

From an AppScan 360° user perspective, the AppScan 360° Static Analysis environment is fully integrated with AppScan 360°. The AppScan Central Platform (ASCP) delivers a seamless experience for a user initiating multiple scans concurrently and working with results.

From an administrator perspective, the AppScan 360° Static Analysis runtime environment is comprised of:

One instance of the AppScan 360° Static Analysis gateway (gateway)
One instance of the Workflow Manager (workflow-manager)
One instance of the Scan Manager (scan-manager)
Multiple instances of the prepare service (preparer)
Multiple instances of the analysis service (analyzer)
Multiple instances of the ASCP adapter (ascp-adapter)

The number of preparer and analyzer services depends on the required level of concurrency:

The configuration and number of container host systems determines the concurrency level.

The concurrency configuration is static.
Containers must be setup using instructions provided in this document.
Scan status and results flow through the ASCP adapter for monitoring and analysis in AppScan 360°.
