Dynamic Workload Console workload security scenario

Create a new custom role with specific security access to the Dynamic Workload Console and pin pages to it to facilitate the workflow of users or groups added to that role .

About this task

Stobbard & Co is a worldwide shipping company that uses HCL Universal Orchestrator to automate their business processes. The company has recently hired a new employee to help monitor their automated workload. As a system administrator, you need to create a custom role for them to access the relevant sections of the Dynamic Workload Console. The new employee's username in the system is mark.ramirez. The new custom role is called Operator_Monitoring and can only access the Monitoring section of the Dynamic Workload Console. The Monitor Workload page needs to be pinned to facilitate the workflow of the new employee.

Procedure

  1. In the Administration menu, go to Manage roles.
  2. Click Add new to add a custom role:
    1. Name the custom role Operator_Monitoring and add a short description.
    2. In the Access to pages panel, select the Monitoring checkbox and click Ok to save the role.
  3. Click the Entities number corresponding to Operator_Monitoring in the Manage roles table.
  4. Click Add to add an existing user or group to Operator_Monitoring. Select mark.ramirez from the dropdown menu, or search for it in the search bar.
  5. Click Add entity.
  6. Back in the Manage roles table, click the Pinned pages number corresponding to Operator_Monitoring.
  7. Select the Monitor Workload page checkbox.

Results

You have successfully assigned a security role to the new employee, defining what menus and pages they can see on the Dynamic Workload Console. You have also defined what pages are pinned for them.
