Recommendations

Consider these recommendations:
  • Do not use STEPEVENTS(ALL) unless you use the auto recovery function and are interested if a step was flushed.
  • Do not specify PRINTEVENTS(YES) unless you are interested in tracking print operations, or disable exit IEFU83 for print events if you are using JES2.
  • Filter the testing workload using EQQUX004.
  • Consider filtering type 5 events, except those with EXROPCAN on if you do not specify PRTCOMPLETE(YES).
  • Ensure there is sufficient ECSA defined for the event writer queue to handle peak processing, and the occasional hardware reserve.
  • Do not HSM manage the event data set, do not place the event data set on a volume where you take full-volume backups.
  • For recommendations on calculating the logical record length of the event data set when the restart and cleanup function is used, see HCL Workload Scheduler for Z: Planning and Installation.
  • Examine JCC and restart and cleanup tuning recommendations.
  • If you want to extend the extended common service area (ECSA) dynamically, to prevent the loss of events ensure that before performing any actions:
    • All the HCL Workload Automation for Z jobs submitted on the affected system are completed.
    • No new HCL Workload Automation for Z jobs are submitted on the affected system (stop submission on the HCL Workload Automation for Z or set the workstation to OFFLINE).
    • No events are generated by the BACKUP, OPINFO, OPSTAT, WSSTAT, or SRSTAT command from either the TSO environment or the EQQEVPGM batch program.
    • No events are generated by programs using the EQQUSIN, EQQUSINB, EQQUSINS, EQQUSINO, EQQUSINW or EQQUSINT subroutine.
