Pool Browser

Use the Pool Browser to create, modify, or maintain a VOB storage pool. The Pool Browser lists the name, description, and location of storage pools used by the VOB that is selected in the File Browser. It supports the following menus:

Directory selector

Use the directory selector under the menu icons to list type objects in a different VOB. The directory selector displays the VOB tags of the VOBs mounted on your host. To display type objects in a different VOB, click the arrow next to the directory selector and click a VOB tag.

File menu

The File menu contains the following commands that control the graphical user interface.

Force on this browser
Updates HCL VersionVault information on this browser only.
Update browsers
Updates HCL VersionVault information on all browser displays. By default, all browsers are updated after each File Browser command runs, and when you remain inactive for 15 seconds.
New file browser
Starts another File Browser in a new window.
Close window
Closes current browser window.

Pool menu

This menu contains the following commands to manage type objects in the VOB that you select.

Create source pool
Creates a pool (sdft) that stores the data containers that contain versions of elements.
Create cleartext pool
Creates a pool (cdft) that caches text for versions of elements.
Create derived pool
Creates a pool (ddft) that stores shared derived objects-those that are referenced by more than one view.
Rename
Assigns a new name to the selected pools.
Revise creation comment
Changes the comment string in the event record for the creation of the selected pools.
Describe
Displays the properties for the selected pools.
Destroy
Removes storage pool directories from the VOB, along with all the data container files stored within them. The pool being removed can have no assigned elements.

Locks menu

The Locks menu contains commands that let you list lock-related information and place a type object in a state that disables certain operations on the object. Locking or unlocking a global type or one of its local copies locks or unlocks the global type and all local copies.

Generally, locking a pool inhibits commands that create or remove the pool data containers and prevents the pool scrubbing parameters from being modified. Other effects of locking a pool depend on the kind of pool.

Lock
Creates a lock on the selected type objects for all users.

Locking a VOB does not lock the cleartext storage pools.

Lock (except some users)
Creates a lock on the selected type objects but allows access by certain users that you specify.
Obsolete
Creates a lock on the selected type objects for all users and makes the type objects obsolete.
Unlock
Removes an existing lock from the selected type objects.
Show lock
Lists the lock-related information for the selected type objects.
Show all locks in VOB
Available if the selected object is a VOB. Lists all locks of all type objects within the selected VOB.
