Integration with Workflow Service on Cloud

HCL Marketing Operations optionally integrates with Workflow Services on Cloud. When Marketing Operations and Workflow Services are integrated, you can use the Advanced Workflow capabilities in Marketing Operations to create workflows with rework loops.

Information exchange

When Marketing Operations and Workflow Service are integrated, the workflow information from Marketing Operations is used by Workflow Service.
  • When a project is started, Marketing Operations shares the workflow information with Workflow Service. Only the task numbers and the task sequence is shared.
  • Marketing Operations makes an API call to the Workflow Service server on a regular basis, every one second, to get information about the status of the tasks in the workflow.
  • Marketing Operations makes an API call to the Workflow Service server to provide a status update when the following actions are completed for a workflow:
    • The workflow starts. This occurs when a project starts.
    • A task is started.
    • A task is completed.
    • A task is skipped.
    • An approval task is completed.
    • An approval task is denied (OnHold).
    • An approval task is canceled.
Important: No API calls are made from the on-cloud Workflow Service server to the on-premise Marketing Operations server and hence no firewall changes are required.

Upgrading to 11.0 from previous versions

If you are upgrading from a previous version of Marketing Operations and have not enabled Workflow Service integration, Workflow Service integration is disabled by default and Advanced Workflow capabilities are not available.
