Planning the Unica Interact upgrade

Upgrade your installation of Unica Interact after understanding the guidelines that are specific to your current version of Unica Interact.

Use the following guidelines for upgrading Unica Interact:

NOTE :A new approach for upgrading has been introduced. Please refer to the Interact Fast Upgrade guide.

Table 1. Upgrade scenarios for Unica Interact

This two-columned table provides information about the source version of Unica Interact in one column, and about the upgrade path in the second column.
Source version Upgrade path

Any 7.x or pre-8.6.x version
Complete the following steps to upgrade to Unica Interact version 12.0:
  1. Upgrade from your earlier version to version 8.6.x.
  2. Upgrade your 8.6.x version to version 10.1 by following the instructions in the Interact 10.1 Upgrade Guide.
  3. Upgrade your 10.1 version to 11.0.1 by following the instructions in the Interact 11.0.1 Upgrade Guide.
  4. Upgrade your 11.0.1 version to 11.1.

    1. Perform an in-place installation of version 11.1 over your old version.

      Use the Unica Interact installer for both the design time environment and the runtime environment.

      Important: You must upgrade Unica Campaign before you upgrade the Unica Interact design time environment.
    2. Run the upgrade tools to upgrade configuration settings, files, and data from your source Unica Interact version.
    3. Upgrade the reports package as explained in the Unica Reports Installation and Configuration Guide.
  5. Upgrade your 11.1 version to 12.0 version by following the instructions in this guide.

Any 8.6.x version
Complete the following steps to upgrade to Unica Interact version 11.1:
  1. Upgrade your 8.6.x version to version 10.1 by following the instructions in the Interact 10.1 Upgrade Guide.
  2. Upgrade your 10.1 version to 11.0.1 by following the instructions in the Interact 11.0.1 Upgrade Guide.
  3. Upgrade your 11.0.1 version to 11.1.

    1. Perform an in-place installation of version 11.1 over your old version.

      Use the Unica Interact installer for both the design time environment and the runtime environment.

      Important: You must upgrade Unica Campaign before you upgrade the Unica Interact design time environment.
    2. Run the upgrade tools to upgrade configuration settings, files, and data from your source Unica Interact version.
    3. Upgrade the reports package as explained in the Unica Reports Installation and Configuration Guide.
  4. Upgrade your 11.1 version to 12.0 version by following the instructions in this guide.

Any 9.x.x version
Complete the following steps to upgrade to Unica Interact version 12.0:
  1. Upgrade your 9.x.x version to version 10.1 by following the instructions in the Interact 10.1 Upgrade Guide.
  2. Upgrade your 10.1 version to 11.0.1 by following the instructions in the Interact 11.0.1 Upgrade Guide.
  3. Upgrade your 11.0.1 version to 11.1

    1. Perform an in-place installation of version 11.1 over your old version.

      Use the Unica Interact installer for both the design time environment and the runtime environment.

      Important: You must upgrade Unica Campaign before you upgrade the Unica Interact design time environment.
    2. Run the upgrade tools to upgrade configuration settings, files, and data from your source Unica Interact version.
    3. Upgrade the reports package as explained in the Unica Reports Installation and Configuration Guide.
  4. Upgrade your 11.1 version to 12.0 version by following the instructions in this guide.
Any 10.0.0.x version
Complete the following steps to upgrade to Unica Interact version 12.0:

  1. Perform an upgrade to 10.1 over your old version.by following the instructions in the HCL Interact 10.1 Upgrade Guide.

    Perform an in-place upgrade from 10.1 to 11.0.1 by following the upgrade guide.

    Perform an in-place upgrade from 11.0.1 to 11.1.

    Use the Unica Interact installer for both the design time environment and the runtime environment.

    Important: You must upgrade Unica Campaign before you upgrade the Unica Interact design time environment.
  2. Run the upgrade tools to upgrade configuration settings, files, and data from your source Unica Interact version.
  3. Upgrade the reports package as explained in the Unica Reports Installation and Configuration Guide.
  4. Upgrade your 11.1 version to 12.0 version by following the instructions in this guide.

Any 10.1.x version
Complete the following steps to upgrade to Unica Interact version 12.0:
  1. Perform an in-place upgrade from 10.1.x to 11.0.1 by following the 11.0.1 Interact Upgrade guide.

  2. Perform an in-place installation of version 11.1 over your old version.

    Use the Unica Interact installer for both the design time environment and the runtime environment.

    Important: You must upgrade Unica Campaign before you upgrade the Unica Interact design time environment.
  3. Run the upgrade tools to upgrade configuration settings, files, and data from your source Unica Interact version.
  4. Upgrade the reports package as explained in the Unica Reports Installation and Configuration Guide.
  5. Upgrade your 11.1 version to 12.0 version by following the instructions in this guide.

11.0 version
  1. Fast upgrade to 11.0.1 Version.
  2. From 11.0.1 version, you can upgrade directly to 11.1 by following the instructions in this guide.
  3. Fast upgrade from 11.0 to 11.1 is supported
  4. Upgrade your 11.1 version to 12.0 version by following the instructions in this guide.
11.0.1.x version
  1. You can upgrade directly to 11.1 by following the instructions in this guide.
11.1 version
  1. Fast upgrade to install 12.0 version.
