Configuring TCP-Lite

A TCP-Lite transport is applied to a transport profile, which is a set of configuration properties that are applied to a connection profile. They are then applied to an MNC to control the performance options between an MNC and the SafeLinx Clients that connect to it.

About this task

A TCP-Lite transport ultimately helps you control the performance options between an MNC and the SafeLinx Clients that connect to it.

Procedure

  1. From the Resources pane, right-click the OU in which you are adding the TCP-Lite resource, and then click Add Resource > TCP-Lite > TCP-Lite
  2. Review the default values and provide:
    • A common name and a descriptive name of the service
    • (Optional) A specific TCP destination port to filter on (to limit the resource to a specific TCP application type)
    • (Optional) An IP address and subnet mask (to limit the resource to specific destination application servers)
    • The maximum number of times that a single packet can attempt to be retransmitted before the packet is discarded and the session is reset
    • The time in seconds that the TCP-Lite resource waits to retransmit a data segment when it has not received an acknowledgment for the successful receipt of that data segment
  3. After you add the resource, assign it to one or more transport profiles. From the Resources pane, double-click the transport profiles, click the profile you want to update, and then click Properties. From the list on the TCP-Lite tab, select the TCP-Lite resource that you want to assign.
  4. After you assign the TCP-Lite resource to a transport profile, assign the transport profile to a connection profile. From the Resources pane, double-click Connection Profile, click the profile that you want to update, and then click Properties. Select the transport profile that you want to assign from the list on the Transport Profiles tab.
  5. After you assign the transport profile to a connection profile, assign the connection profile to an MNC. From the Resources pane, right-click the MNC, and then click Properties. Click the Network tab, and then select the connection profile from the list.

Several default transport and connection profiles come with the SafeLinx Administrator. You can alter the default profiles or create other profiles, one for each set of properties that you want to assign to an MNC.

You can configure and associate multiple TCP-Lite transports with one transport profile.
