SafeLinx Clients
SafeLinx Clients can establish virtual private network (VPN) connections with mobile access services across various wireless and wireline network. SafeLinx Clients use these optimized, secure IP tunnels to communicate with resources on the internal network.

Install, configure, and use the SafeLinx Client component of HCL SafeLinx for use on Mac OS X systems.
Using the SafeLinx Client
The SafeLinx Client can create a connection to the SafeLinx Server, export and import configuration files, roam between networks, and more. All of the following instructions are applicable for those running a Mac OS X operating system.
Using trace
A trace can be set up from the Connections window. This process enables a user to create a trace either before starting a connection to the SafeLinx Server or after the connection is already active. The location of the trace file is /var/log/wc.log.

SafeLinx Clients

    This information describes how to use the SafeLinx Client for Mac OS X systems. You might read this information if you want to complete the following tasks:
  - Getting started
    To get started with the SafeLinx Client, review the software and hardware requirements, and then read the instructions on how to install, apply maintenance to, and start the client.
  - Using the SafeLinx Client
    The SafeLinx Client can create a connection to the SafeLinx Server, export and import configuration files, roam between networks, and more. All of the following instructions are applicable for those running a Mac OS X operating system.
    - Creating a SafeLinx Client connection
      To define a new connection, click Connections > Create in the Connections window to start the Create Connection wizard.
    - Connecting to the SafeLinx Server
      The SafeLinx Client can connect to the SafeLinx Server. The following instructions are for computers that run Mac OS X operating systems.
    - Changing the password
      To change the password you use to connect to the SafeLinx Server:
    - Checking that applications are running before connecting
      You can configure the SafeLinx Client to check that specific programs are running, such as antivirus or personal firewall software, before allowing the connection to start.
    - Starting a connection at system login
      You can configure a specific connection to start automatically at system login time. Only one connection can be configured to run auto start. If the connection is lost, the SafeLinx Client attempts to restart it until it is reestablished.
    - Automatically starting applications after connecting
      The SafeLinx Client can be configured to start applications automatically after a connection is established. The number of applications which you can autostart is restricted to 16. In addition to specifying the application name, you can also configure any parameters with which you want the application started.
    - Importing and exporting configuration files
      You can export the configuration file that controls how a SafeLinx Client connects to the network and then import the file to other clients to reuse those settings.
    - Using trace
      A trace can be set up from the Connections window. This process enables a user to create a trace either before starting a connection to the SafeLinx Server or after the connection is already active. The location of the trace file is /var/log/wc.log.
      - Viewing and saving trace data
        To view the trace file click the Tools menu in the Connections window, and select View Trace. This process loads the /var/log/wc.log file into the Console application after which a user can save it to a location of their choice.
      - Configure trace properties
        You can set up a trace to record diagnostic information for the SafeLinx Client. Additionally, your SafeLinx Server administrator might request a trace file from you to help diagnose a problem.
    - Roaming between networks
      In IP-based networks, the SafeLinx Client can dynamically switch the secure connection to the SafeLinx Server from one physical network adapter to another with little or no user intervention and usually with no interruption to applications.
    - Viewing connection status
      To view connection status click Window > Status on the Menu bar.
    - Viewing connection properties
      To view connection properties, click Connections > Properties on the Menu bar.
    - Deleting a connection
      A user can delete any connection created by the SafeLinx Client by using the Menu bar.
    - Disconnecting from the SafeLinx Server
      To disconnect the active connection with the SafeLinx Server:

  Install, configure, and use the SafeLinx Client component of HCL SafeLinx on Microsoft Windows systems.

Using trace

A trace can be set up from the Connections window. This process enables a user to create a trace either before starting a connection to the SafeLinx Server or after the connection is already active. The location of the trace file is /var/log/wc.log.

To set up a trace:

In the Connections window, click the Tools menu and select Configure Trace.
Enter the properties in the Trace tabs.
Click OK to close the Trace window and begin tracing, or click Apply to begin tracing without closing the Trace window.
