Installing Agent on Windows

Install IBM® Rational® Performance Tester Agent on different computers to apply load on the server that hosts the application under test or to run multiple Web UI tests. When you want to run the test scripts on any computer, you must install Rational® Performance Tester Agent.

Before you begin

  • You must have uninstalled any older version of this product.

  • You must have installed OpenJDK 8 along with JVM OpenJ9. To download them, go to the AdoptOpenJDK portal.

About this task

The system requirements mentioned in the FNO portal to provides more information about the software and hardware requirements. All 32-bit test extensions such as SAP, Citrix, and Siebel are supported only for 32-bit Rational® Performance Tester Agent. The product installer does not support the following:
  • Updates, modifications or rollback
  • Shell sharing in Eclipse
  • Sharing of common components
  • Integration with Visual Studio for Rational® Functional Tester

Procedure

  1. Download the product installer from the HCL® License & Delivery portal. You can download the appropriate product variant, version, and architecture based on your requirements.
  2. Right-click the exe file and select Run as Administrator.

    The GUI window is launched.

  3. On the Introduction window, read through the details, and click Next.
  4. Read the license agreement carefully, select the I accept check box and then click Next.
  5. Browse the location or directory where you want to install the product and click Next.
    Note: You must select any other directory if the default directory is not empty. Following are the default locations for 32-bit and 64-bit installers:
    • For 32-bit: C:\Program Files(x86)\HCL
    • For 64-bit: C:\Program Files\HCL
  6. Configure the agent with Rational® Functional Tester or Rational® Performance Tester and Rational® Test Automation Server. You must provide the values for the following configuration parameters:
    • For Rational® Functional Tester or Rational® Performance Tester: You must provide the host name and port number supported by Rational® Functional Tester or Rational® Performance Tester. The default port number is 7080.

    • For server: You must provide the host name, port number, and server token of Rational® Test Automation Server.

  7. Read through the installation details and click Install.
  8. After the installation is complete, click Done.

What to do next

You must enter the license key when you launch the product.
