Administrator Guide
This guide describes how to install IBM® Rational® Functional Tester software. After you install the software, you can perform administration tasks such as license configuration and integration with other products. This guide is intended for administrators.
Installing
In this section, you will learn about two ways to install the product. In the first approach, you use an executable file to directly install the product in an easy manner. In the second approach, you download and install IBM® Installation Manager and then use that tool to install the product.

This guide intended for an administrator and describes how to install the product by using stand-alone installer on different operating systems.
Installation of IBM® Rational® Performance Tester Agent by using the stand-alone installer
To get started with IBM® Rational® Performance Tester Agent, you must install the product on Windows or Linux or macOS by using the stand-alone installer.

        Installing Agent in the GUI mode on Windows
        Install IBM® Rational® Performance Tester Agent on different computers to apply load on the server that hosts the application under test or to run multiple Web UI tests. When you want to run the test scripts on any computer, you must install Rational Performance Tester Agent.
        Creating the properties file on Windows for Rational® Performance Tester Agent
        To install IBM® Rational® Performance Tester Agent in the silent mode, you must first create a properties file that contains the data required to install the product. Alternatively, you can generate the properties file by using the stand-alone installer.

    Licensing for your HCL software is administered through HCL® License & Delivery portal. This portal is FlexNet-based web application to manage software entitlements and licenses.

  You can start Rational® Functional Tester from the desktop environment or a command-line interface.

Installing Agent in the silent mode on Windows

You can also install IBM® Rational® Performance Tester Agent on Windows by using the silent mode installation method.

Before you begin

You must be an administrator.
Note: If you are a non-admin user, you must have the credentials of an administrator to start the installation by using the Run as Administrator option.
You must have completed the following tasks:
- Uninstalled the previous version of the product. See Uninstalling Agent in the silent mode on Windows.
- Installed OpenJDK 8 along with JVM OpenJ9. For more information, refer to the AdoptOpenJDK portal.
  
  Note: You can install OpenJDK V8 along with JVM OpenJ9 that is supported for Windows R12 or later on Windows 10 for using the stand-alone installer.
- Deleted the installer.properties file generated from the previous installation if you are installing a newer version of the product.
- Created a properties file that contains the inputs for the installer during the installation process. See Creating the properties file on Windows for Rational Performance Tester Agent.
- Verified the software and hardware requirements. See System Requirements.

Procedure

Open the command-line interface and log in as an administrator.
Change the directory to where you have downloaded the installer file by running the following command:
```
cd <directory path>
```
For example, cd C:\users\Downloads\HCL-OneTest-<Product_Name>-Windows-x64-v10.1.2.exe_10.1.2.v20201105_0440
Extract the downloaded zip file.
Start the installation process by running the following command:
```
<installer name> -i silent -f <location of the installer.properties file>
```
For example, HCL-OneTest-<Product_Name>-Windows-x64-v10.1.2.0.exe -i silent -f C:\users\Downloads\installer.properties
Note: If the installation is terminated due to any reason, you must check the Installerror.txt to know more about the problem that occurred during the installation process. The error log is located at \<installation directory>\Logs.
You can verify the status of the installation of the product by checking the log file at \<installation directory>\Logs.

Results

You have installed the product on your computer.
