Using the HCL OneTest API UI to import data from Tivoli® Composite Application Manager for Transactions

If you are using HCL OneTest API 8.6.0 or later, you can use the HCL OneTest API user interface (UI) to import service or transaction data from IBM® Tivoli® Composite Application Manager for Transactions.

Before you begin

  • You need to have access to IBM® Tivoli® Enterprise Portal 6.3.0.3 or later.
Note: If you do not have the required user name and password, contact your Tivoli® Enterprise Portal administrator.
  • Log into Tivoli® Enterprise Portal and determine which transaction data in Tivoli® Enterprise Portal you want to import into HCL OneTest API.
  • In HCL OneTest API, create a performance profile for the stub that you want to use.

About this task

Using the HCL OneTest API UI to import data from Tivoli® Composite Application Manager for Transactions involves creating a connection in HCL OneTest API to Tivoli® Enterprise Portal, connecting to the portal, and selecting and importing the data to be imported.

Procedure

  1. To create a connection to Tivoli® Enterprise Portal, complete the following tasks:
    1. In HCL OneTest API, click Project > Project Settings in the menu bar.

The Project Settings window is displayed.

    2. Click the APM preferences tab.

The APM preferences tab is displayed.

    3. Click Add.

The Select Provider window is displayed.

By default, IBM Tivoli APM Connection Provider is selected in the Available Providers list.

The new connection is displayed under Connected APM Servers.

    5. Under APM Connection Details, enter the following information:
      • In the Name field, enter a name for the new connection.
Note: Assigning a name helps to identify the connection if there is more than one Tivoli® Enterprise Portal connection in your HCL OneTest API project.
      • In the Url field, enter the URL of the Tivoli® Enterprise Portal instance to which you want to connect.
Note: The URL must include the relevant port number; for example, http://<server>:15210/.
      • In the Username field, enter the required Tivoli® Enterprise Portal user name.
      • In Password field, enter the required Tivoli® Enterprise Portal password.
    6. Click Connect.

HCL OneTest API attempts to connect to the specified Tivoli® Enterprise Portal instance.

If HCL OneTest API connects to Tivoli® Enterprise Portal successfully, the lists under Connect are populated.

If HCL OneTest API fails to connect to Tivoli® Enterprise Portal successfully, an error message is displayed and you must check the connection details.

    7. In the Default Provider list, click the Tivoli® Composite Application Manager provider that you want to use.
    8. In the Default Data Source list, click the Tivoli® Composite Application Manager data source that you want to use; for example, Transaction Reporter.
