Substitution and transposition

This section discusses the simplest example of a fuzzy search: a search that takes into account misspellings in both the clue and the search text.

Misspellings most frequently occur when letters in a word are mistakenly substituted or transposed. Misspelling editor as editer is an example of substitution; misspelling multimedia as mulitmedia is an example of transposition. Transposition means switching the order of two adjacent characters.
