Creating a copy of the Domino® Directory template

Never customize the default IBM® Domino® Directory template (PUBNAMES.NTF). Instead, create a copy of the default Domino® Directory template and then customize the copy.

About this task

In the following steps, the Renovations Domino® Directory, RENOVATIONSNAMES.NTF, and StdRenovationsDominoDirectory are used as the title, file name, and template name, respectively, for the copy of the Domino® Directory template. Where Renovations appears, substitute a name that relates to your company.

Procedure

  1. Choose File > Application > New.
  2. Select a server to store the new template.
  3. In the Title field, enter a title for your organization's directory. For example:
    Renovations Domino® Directory
  4. In the File Name field, enter the name of your template. For example:
    RENOVATIONSNAMES.NTF
  5. Select a template server that stores the default Domino® Directory template (PUBNAMES.NTF).
  6. Click Show advanced templates.
  7. Choose Domino Directory (PUBNAMES.NTF) from the list of templates.
  8. Ensure that the Inherit future design changes field is checked. Then when a new version of the default Domino® Directory template becomes available, RENOVATIONSNAMES.NTF will inherit the design changes.
  9. Click OK. The Domino® Directory template for Renovations is now open.
  10. Choose File > Application > Properties, and then click the Design tab.
  11. Choose Database file is a master template, and then in the Template name field, enter the template name:
    StdRenovationsDominoDirectory
  12. Close the Properties box.
