Configuring
Use this information to configure an IBM® Domino® network, users, servers (including Web servers), directory services, security, messaging, widgets and live text, and server clusters. Also use this information to set up IBM iNotes® on a server using Domino Off-Line Services (DOLS).
Editing the NOTES.INI file
You should rarely, if ever, need to modify a server's or client's NOTES.INI file. The NOTES.INI file contains many settings that Domino® and Notes® rely on to work properly. An accidental or incorrect change may cause Domino or Notes to run unpredictably. Therefore, you should edit the NOTES.INI file only if special circumstances occur or if IBM® Support Services recommends that you do so.

The NOTES.INI settings described here can be set in the Configuration document of the Domino® server.
Update_Suppression_Time
Specifies the length of time that deferred update requests are held in queue.

Update_Suppression_Time

Specifies the length of time that deferred update requests are held in queue.

Syntax: Update_Suppression_Time=length of time

Description: The Update Task (indexer) maintains two work queues - an immediate queue and a deferred queue. Deferred update requests are held for 15 minutes before they are processed so that requests to update the same database in that time are ignored as duplicate requests. Updater queues can grow if the server has a high update rate because of heavy database use. Use this variable to specify the length of time that deferred update requests are held in queue.

n -- length of time in queue in minutes

-n -- (negative value) length of time in queue in seconds

Applies to: Servers

Default: 15

UI equivalent: None, although you can specify this setting in the NOTES.INI Settings tab of the Configuration Settings document in the Domino® Directory.
