Integration options

HCL Docs supports integrating with different products on various environments. Before installing, you must have information about which integration option you want.

HCL Docs has the following integration options:

Integrating with IBM® Connections

This option requires you to install Connections and then you can select to install a complete Docs application, Viewer application only or integrating with CCM. You have 3 choices when integrating with Connections:

  • Installing a complete Docs product, including Document Format Conversion Application, Editor Application, Editor Extension, Editor Proxy, Viewer Application, and Viewer Extension components. This option enables you to have both the editing and viewing function after installation.
  • Installing Viewer only, including Document Format Conversion Application, Viewer Application, and Viewer Extension components. This option enables you to have the viewing function only after installation.
  • Integrating with CCM, including Document Format Conversion Application, Editor Application, Editor Extension, Editor Proxy, Viewer Application, and Viewer Extension components. This option enables you to have Docs integration with CCM and access to Docs from the library.

Integrating with other repositories

You can integrate with IBM Content Navigator, or use APIs to integrate with additional repositories.

IBM Content Navigator: This option requires you to install IBM Content Navigator, and it enables you to edit a file from ICN. In this integration, Connections is not required to install. And you will install the Document Format Conversion Application, Editor Application, and Editor Proxy components.

Additional Repositories: You can install the standalone HCL Docs product with additional repositories by using APIs. For this option, you are required to install Document Format Conversion Application, Editor Application, Viewer Application, and Editor Proxy components.
