Creating domains with DevOps Test Virtualization Control Panel method

This topic explains how to create domains using the HCL DevOps Test Virtualization Control Panel (Test Virtualization Control Panel) method.

About this task

To use Test Virtualization Control Panel to create a domain:

Procedure

  1. Log into Test Virtualization Control Panel.
  2. Click the Administration navigation link.

Alternatively, click the Administration icon on the Home page.

    The Administration page is displayed.

  3. Click the Domains and environments tab.

The Domains and environments tab is displayed.

  4. In the New domain field, enter the name of the new domain.
  5. Click Add.

    The new domain is created.

The domain is added to the list of domains on the Domains and environments tab and a Details page is displayed on the tab to enable you to enter additional information about the new domain.

You can enter the following details:
    Options Action
Name Enter the name for the domain.
Description Optionally, enter a brief description about the domain.
Agent Tags Optionally, enter any text string that enables HCL DevOps Test Integrations and APIs Agent (Test Integrations and APIs Agent) to identify the domain and run all stubs that are contained in this domain when you configure the agent with the same tag in the Agent.config file.

You can enter multiple tags that are separated by a semicolon.

Results database Select this option and enter details of the alternate results database that must be used to log the stub details when it runs on Test Virtualization Control Panel. If this option is not selected, the stubs details are logged in the results database that is configured in the HCL DevOps Test Integrations and APIs (Test Integrations and APIs) project.

Clicking Environments displays the Environments page, which enables you to view a listing of the environments (if any) in the currently selected domain.

Note: You cannot use the Environments page to create an environment for a new domain or to associate an existing environment with a new domain because it is read-only. Instead, environments are created automatically when stubs are published from HCL DevOps Test Virtualization (Test Virtualization) or when an Test Integrations and APIs Proxy or Agent registers with Test Virtualization Control Panel specifying an environment name.

Clicking Projects displays the Projects page, which enables you to view a listing of the Test Integrations and APIs projects (if any) where any stubs in the currently selected domain have been published.

  6. Optional: In the Description field on the Details page, enter a description for the new domain.
Note: The contents of the Description field are viewable only within Test Virtualization Control Panel. The contents of the field are not used by, or viewable in, Test Integrations and APIs.
Note: You can also specify a results database for the new domain. (For information about this, refer to Modifying DevOps Test Virtualization project results database settings.)
