This guide describes how to create and edit test assets in HCL DevOps Test Hub (Test Hub), and then publish test assets to the remote Git repository that you have configured in your project. This guide is intended for testers and test managers.

Test Author Guide

- Edit branch overview
  When you want to create or modify a test resource in HCL DevOps Test Hub (Test Hub), you must use an Edit branch. An Edit branch is a temporary branch of the branch in the project repository into which you want to add the created resource or edited resource.

      You can add the database connection to a classification to grant access to the classification for other project members in HCL DevOps Test Hub (Test Hub). After the access is provided, they can use the database connection to create the database query and import the data from the database.

      You can remove a database connection from a classification when you are no longer required to provide access to other members of your project.
    - Editing a database connection
      You can edit the database connection, when you want to change the database details that you added earlier or if you want to update the SSL certificate file.

      When you want create a similar database connection with different user credentials, to create the similar database connection and restrict or unrestricted it, or to create a similar database connection by encrypting the data exchanged between HCL DevOps Test Hub (Test Hub) and database, you can create a new database connection using an existing database connection.

- Data fabrication
  Test data is the core component of any application testing. It is very time-consuming to create test data manually. You can use the data fabrication feature in HCL DevOps Test Hub (Test Hub) to create realistic datasets for comprehensive testing scenarios. The feature provides data fabrication capabilities that can help you to generate synthetic data quickly and efficiently without the risk of data leaks or privacy issues.

Removing a database connection from a classification

You can remove a database connection from a classification when you are no longer required to provide access to other members of your project.

Before you begin

You must have completed the following tasks:

Ensured that you are assigned a role as a Project Owner or Tester in the project. See Managing access to the server projects.
Added at least one restricted database connection to a classification. See Adding a database connection to a classification.

Procedure

Log in to Test Hub.

The team space that contains your project is displayed.
Click Active projects > My projects > project_name to open the project that contains the test assets.

The Overview page of the project is displayed.
Click Manage > Security.
The Security page is displayed.
Click a classification in the list under Classification from which you want to delete the database connection.
Click the Delete icon in line with the database connection that you want to delete from the classification.
The Remove database connection dialog is displayed.
Click Remove.

Note: Removing the database connection from the classification also removes the password stored in HCL DevOps Test Hub (Test Hub) for that database. You must enter the password again to gain access to the database connection while adding it to a different classification.
