        Installing Exuberant Ctags
        Before using HCL OneTest™ Embedded Studio on Windows™, you must ensure that Exuberant Ctags is installed on your computer and that the directory containing Ctags binary files is set in the PATH environment variable.
        Installing Cygwin
        Before using HCL OneTest™ Embedded Studio on Windows™, you must ensure that Cygwin is installed on your computer and that the directory containing Cygwin binary files is set in the PATH environment variable.
        Support for Microsoft™ Visual Studio
        If you plan to use HCL OneTest™ Embedded on Windows™ with Microsoft™ Visual Studio you must install Visual Studio and execute it at least once before installing HCL OneTest Embedded in order to correctly initialize the Windows registry database.
        Increasing the number of file handles on Linux™ workstations
        For best product performance, increase the number of file handles above the default of 1024 handles.

    When the installation process is complete, a message confirms the success of the process. You can open the log file to verify your installation of the product.

    You can start your product from the desktop environment or a command-line interface.

    Licensing for your HCL software is administered through HCL® License & Delivery portal. This portal is FlexNet-based web application to manage software entitlements and licenses.

To help ensure a smooth installation process, complete these tasks before starting the installation tasks.

Procedure

For HCL OneTest™ Embedded Studio support, you must first install Exuberant Ctags. See Installing Exuberant Ctags for more information.
Ensure that your existing compilers and development environments are installed and run properly.
In particular, if you are using Microsoft™ Visual Studio, install and run it at least once before installing HCL OneTest™ Embedded. See Support for Microsoft Visual Studio for more information.
For UNIX™: If you want the product to be used by users other than root, then set the umask variable to 0022 before you install the product. To set this variable, log in as root user, start a terminal session, and type umask 0022.
