You can integrate HCL Connections applications with other products and features.
Connections Engagement Center
Connections Engagement Center provides the corporate office, management, and workforce with a single user experience for all communications, as well as a state of the art enterprise social collaboration features and the possibility of adding custom applications. All this runs at the office and on all mobile devices, so the entire workforce – from CEO to intern – can access this most valuable tool regardless of where they are, what their role is, or what devices they prefer.
Installing and configuring Connections Engagement Center
This section provides instructions for upgrading an existing XCC Web Content Management Extension to the Connections Engagement Center. For fresh installations, instructions are provided for planning, creating a database, installing, and then configuring the Engagement Center. Also included are browser links to access the various modes of Connections Engagement Center, and instructions for uninstalling Connections Engagement Center.
Upgrading
The following instructions guide you as you upgrade from XCC to Connections Engagement Center, or upgrade Connections Engagement Center itself to a newer version.
CR3 or later: Upgrading Highlights to Engagement Center 6.0.2
If you updated to Connections 6.0 CR3 or later, and want to expand the use of Connections Engagement Center throughout Connections by upgrading to a full version of the Engagement Center, follow these steps. This upgrade installs a license and adjusts a setting to provide the necessary configuration.

    Connections Engagement Center is a single, accessible hub for organizational news and content within HCL Connections, enabling users to create and manage web content efficiently. People get engaged with finding, creating, owning, and promoting content to improve intranet communication. All content can be found in one place. Communication and collaboration are on the same page or one click away. Connections Engagement Center makes it simple and easy for users to create content; there's no need for multiple systems to create and publish content. This documentation explains and describes role concepts, site structure, functions of the various Connections Engagement Center features and their usage and configuration.
  - Installing and configuring Connections Engagement Center

This upgrade installs a license and adjusts a setting to provide the necessary configuration.
      - CR2 or earlier: Upgrading from XCC to Engagement Center
        If you have updated to Connections 6.0 CR2 or earlier, you can upgrade to HCL Connections Engagement Center from XCC Web Content Management Extension V13 by backing up customizations, uninstalling the XCC application, installing Connections Engagement Center, and restoring the customizations. All of the metadata that was created with XCC can be reused with Connections Engagement Center.
      - CR2 or earlier: Upgrading Engagement Center to 6.0.1.2
        Upgrade Connections Engagement Center to take advantage of recent fixes and enhancements to Engagement Center. This procedure describes the steps for customers who have updated to Connections 6.0 CR2 or earlier to replace Engagement Center 6.0, 6.0.1.0, or 6.0.1.1 with version 6.0.1.2, save it to the master configuration, and create new language files.
    - Planning
      Consider the system requirements, including which versions of Connections are supported, browser requirements, and modes of operations suitable for your environment and requirements.
    - Creating a database
      Connections Engagement Center provides SQL scripts to create a database. Before you begin, download and extract the installation files to a local directory such as /opt/software/XCC-Installer. Then follow the instructions in this section for creating a database using DB2, MSSQL, or Oracle.
    - Installing
      The Connections Engagement Center Application can be installed on WebSphere Application Server as well as on a WebSphere Application Server cluster. If you want to have Connections Engagement Center logs separated from other HCL Connections logs, create a new WebSphere Application Server.
    - Configuring
      Configure context roots, paths, themes, backups, and modes of access. Add a link to the navigation bar, include a birthday widget, and customize labels for languages. You can personalize widgets, edit the HCL Connections proxy configuration for the iFrame widget and Clipping, configure the landing page, rebuild the search index, import and export XML files, and configure for Internet Explorer compatibility mode.
    - Debugging
      Debug any page by first enabling debugging and then appending a parameter to any Connections Engagement Center URL.

    - Uninstalling
      The procedure to follow when uninstalling Connections Engagement Center depends on which Connections 6.0 critical release you have updated to.

CR3 or later: Upgrading Highlights to Engagement Center 6.0.2

If you updated to Connections 6.0 CR3 or later, and want to expand the use of Connections Engagement Center throughout Connections by upgrading to a full version of the Engagement Center, follow these steps. This upgrade installs a license and adjusts a setting to provide the necessary configuration.

Before you begin

Note: You must first purchase a license for the full version of HCL Connections Engagement Center.

Procedure

Download the Connections Engagement Center 6.0.2 upgrade program from the Passport Advantage site.
Open and edit the install602.properties file, adding the values for your server.
- If upgrading on single-node server, make sure that you specify serverName and nodeName.
- If upgrading in a clustered environment, make sure that you specify clusterName.
Verify that Deployment Manager is running and that the SOAP port that connects it to wasadmin is correct.
1. Open the wasadmin.properties file located in the NODE_PROFILE_HOME/properties directory.
2. Find the port number specified for the com.ibm.ws.scripting.port property. By default the port number is 8879.
If the port number specified is different than 8879, make a note of the number. Then edit the upgrade program file for your operating system, replacing "-port 8879" with the port number that you found:
- On Windows, edit the ICECInstaller_Windows.bat file.
- On Linux, edit the ICECInstaller_Linux.sh file.
- On AIX, edit the ICECInstaller_AIX.ksh file.
Run the upgrade program:
- On Windows, open the command prompt, navigate to this directory, and run ICECInstaller_Windows.bat.
- On Linux, open the terminal, navigate to this directory, and run ICECInstaller_Linux.sh.
- On AIX, open the terminal, navigate to this directory, and run ICECInstaller_AIX.ksh.
Once the installation completes, the Connections Engagement Center app is ready for use. There is no need to restart it.
