Notifications

The HCL Compass Notifications feature is available in EmailPlus package 2.5 and higher and can be used in the Modern Web user interface offered by HCL Compass.

To use the Notifications feature, it must be configured and enabled in the EmailPlus package using the EmailPlusConfig record type. Certain schemas, including the Agile, EssentialSAFe, FullSAFe and SolutionSAFe Schemas, come with the EmailPlus package already applied.

A Notification record type can be created by selecting it from the Record Types at the top of the screen and selecting Notification, or by clicking Create Notification from the Notification Center.

The Notification Center is where you can interact with your notifications. The Notification Center provides functionality to mark notifications as Read and Unread. By default, all incoming notifications are in the Unread state. Once a notification is clicked, it is set to a Read state. Additionally, you can perform bulk operations by selecting multiple notifications and using the More menu and then selecting Mark as Read or Pin Notification.
  • All Notifications: Allows a user to view all of their notifications.

  • Subscribed: Allows a user to view all of their Subscriber notifications. A Subscribed notification is a Notification record created by EmailPlus rules.
  • Mentions: Allows a user to view all of their Mention notifications. A Mention notification is a Notification record that is created when a user uses the @ symbol in a record to reference a user.
  • Pinned: Allows a user to view all of their pinned notifications. By default, Notifications are in an unpinned state.
  • Created by me: Allows a user to view all notifications that they created. Only users with Notification creation privileges, who can create Direct Notifications will see this option.
There are three types of Notifications available:
Direct Notification
A Notification record can be created and user lists can be configured. A notification is sent to all or selected users on a user list.

To create a Direct Notification, from the drop down menu at the top of the screen, select New Notification. The headline of the notification is required and a description can be added. A Direct Notification requires values to be entered in either the Groups list or the Users list. Only users with Notification creation privileges can create a Direct Notification.

Subscribe Notification
When creating or updating a record, and if the record has EmailPlus rules or the Subscriber List option from the EmailPlus package, when a rule fires, a Notification record will be created and sent to user subscribed to the record or that meet the EmailPlus rule. For more information, see Notifications feature configuration.
Mention Notification
When creating or updating a record, a user can be notified, via a Notification record of type Mention, when the actioner mentions the user by using the @ symbol. For more information, see Notifications feature configuration.
