When you switch between Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) and Simple Mail Transfer Protocol Security (SMTPS) settings in the HCL Compass EmailRelay configuration by using the cqemailrelay.pl script, you must manually update the <properties> block of the HCL Compass EmailRelay configuration file to reflect the change.

Switching between SMTP and SMTPS settings in the EmailRelay configuration

When you switch between Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) and Simple Mail Transfer Protocol Security (SMTPS) settings in the HCL Compass EmailRelay configuration by using the cqemailrelay.pl script, you must manually update the <properties> block of the HCL Compass EmailRelay configuration file to reflect the change.

About this task

The <properties> block settings in the EmailRelay <SMTPServer> XML block in the cqemailrelay_cfg.xml file are based on the settings that you initially chose when you configured EmailRelay. If you change the email protocol settings between SMTP and SMTPS by running the cqemailrelay.pl Perl script, the cqemailrelay.pl script does not automatically change the existing setting in the EmailRelay configuration file. To change the email protocol, complete one of these actions:

Procedure

Delete the cqemailrelay_cfg.xml file. Then, recreate the file.
Manually edit the <properties> settings in the cqemailrelay_cfg.xml file. If you manually edit the configuration file, ensure that you edit the file after you rerun the cqemailrelay.pl script to switch the email protocol.
