If two records are similar, you can place one in a Duplicate state.
A record can be a duplicate of only one record, but it can have more than
one duplicate.
About this task
For example, Record A can be a duplicate of Record B, and Record
C can be a duplicate of Record B.
To mark
a duplicate record:
Procedure
- Find the record that you want to mark as a duplicate.
- On the record form, click Actions and
select Duplicate. Alternatively, on the HCL Compass menu
bar, select Duplicate.
- In the Enter ID field of
the Mark as Duplicate window, enter the record ID of the original record of
which this record is a duplicate.
The Enter ID field
is case sensitive.
- To view the record to see if it is a duplicate of another record,
click Find.
- To update the selected record before committing
it, select Allow updating the record before committing it to the
database.
- Click OK .
- Click Apply on the record form to commit
the record to the database.
Results
Duplicate information might appear on your record form, depending
on the design of the form.
- After a duplicate record is committed, you can revert the record to its
previous state by clicking Actions on the record form
and selecting Unduplicate. Alternatively, on the HCL Compass menu bar,
select Unduplicate. Then click Apply.
