Schema repositories, user databases, and database sets

This topic describes schema repositories and user databases.

Schema repositories, also referred to as master databases, are used to store and manage a group of schemas, including all versions of those schemas and their associated user databases. Schema repositories do not contain user data.

User databases, also referred to as a production databases, store and manage information about change requests. A user database is always associated with a schema repository where the schema for the user database is stored. The association between a schema repository and the associated user databases is referred to as a database set.
