Administrator role

Administrators are typically responsible for installing the software, creating and managing schema repositories and user databases, configuring user authentication, managing user accounts, and setting up the appropriate client for users.

Administrators performs the following tasks:

  • Creating schema repositories, user databases, and connections
  • Adding users and user groups, subscribing them to user databases, and assigning privileges to them
  • Upgrading user databases and schema repositories to new feature levels
  • Moving and removing user databases
  • Configuring user authentication
  • Administering supported clients so that users can access user databases through the client interface
  • Configuring HCL Compass MultiSite so that users at geographically distributed locations can access the same user databases
  • Monitoring the development environment to improve database performance
