Editing a connection

You can edit the properties of a database connection. Editing a connection affects only the local connection information on the client computer.

About this task

You can edit the properties of a database connection to match a change made by another HCL Compass client or by tools supplied by the database management system vendor. An example of such a change is moving the database to a different server. Another example is reconfiguring the database to use a different port. After making changes such as these, the old database connection no longer works. You must update the database connection to match the changes.

You can also edit a database connection to change the vendor or any properties specific to that vendor. Note that this operation changes the connection information only for the HCL Compass client computer. It does not change any properties of the database.

Procedure

  1. Start the Maintenance Tool.
  2. In the Existing Connections window, select the connection that you want to edit and click Connection > Edit.
  3. In the Schema Repository Properties window, select the vendor of the physical database that you are using for the schema repository and enter the required properties. The required properties are different for each vendor database.
  4. Click Finish.
