About restricted mode

Restricted mode is a mode of accessing HCL Compass Web that limits the number of features available to designated users and user groups.

Users and groups working in restricted mode can perform at most four operations:

  • Submitting records
  • Running the "restricted" query (there is only one per deployment site)
  • Viewing records in the result set of the restricted query, and any related records

An example of a restricted user group is beta site customers who can only enter defects and run a restricted query.

Users operating in restricted mode do not consume a license. Active users of HCL Compass Web are placed in restricted mode when their licenses expire or when they cannot obtain a license.

Restricted user and group access is configured by someone with the Super User privilege on the Security Options page of the Site Configuration page.

Someone with the Super User privilege can be identified as a restricted user. However, when operating in restricted mode, this person still has access to Site Configuration.
