Feature Pack 8: The Madisons store is deprecated. Most features demonstrated in the Madisons store are available in the Aurora store.

Madisons starter store use cases

During a customization project, you must perform architectural design even when you use a WebSphere Commerce starter store. To reduce the time required to document use cases for your store, a modifiable use case document is provided that clearly describes the functionality provided with a starter store.

To modify the Madisons starter store use cases to reflect changes that you want to make to the store, download and extract the appropriate version of the file. Templates are provided inside these documents in order to maintain consistency between use cases when updating the document:
  • WebSphere Commerce Version 7.0.0.0Use cases
  • Feature Pack 2Feature Pack 1Use cases
  • Feature Pack 3Use cases

Contains three use case documents: Madisons base starter store, Madisons plus Enhancements, and Madisons plus Enhancements plus Social Commerce. Download and use the document that applies to your store environment.

  • Feature Pack 4Use cases

Contains three use case documents: Madisons base starter store, Madisons plus Enhancements, and Madisons plus Enhancements plus Social Commerce. Download and use the document that applies to your store environment. The Madisons base starter store use case document was not updated; however, Madisons plus Enhancements, and Madisons plus Enhancements plus Social Commerce were updated to include the Facebook Integration enhancement.

Important: Since some diagram files have the same name but are in different folders, when you extract the files to your machine, do not select all the files and then drag them to a folder. Doing so will overwrite some diagram files. Instead, select all the files, click Extract, and then select an extraction location, and then click Extract.

Example of customizing use case documentation

The following example shows an update to the Madisons use case document to include use cases for the features added in the Tutorial: Adding support for a Management Center tool to the Madisons starter store tutorial.
The customization adds two use cases:
  • Use Case: Shopper views a product's recipes (313)
  • Use Case: Shopper browses to find a recipe (314)
It also adds an alternate flow to an existing use case:
  • Use Case: Shopper adds an item to the Shopping Cart (1101)Alternate Flow I: Shopper adds one or more items to shopping cart from Recipe Details page.
