Main checklist

The following checklist can be used to verify that the status of your DNCA environment.

Procedure

  1. DNCA web Console - Console Tab - Enable/disable DNCA.
    1. Verify that DNCA is enabled.
  2. DNCA Web Console - Summary Tab - Contains metrics and status information about individual DNCA processes, peers, and network interfaces. Warning and error messages are displayed here. Verify:
    1. All capture processes are up and running.
    2. Delivery peers are defined and connected and are delivering hits
    3. Network interfaces are up.
      • For statistics on a network interface, click (details).
      • For more diagnostics, click the Utilities link.
      • For more information about messages that are displayed in the Summary tab, see DNCA Web Console - Summary Tab.
  3. DNCA Web Console - Interface Tab - Configuration of multiple DNCA instances, network interfaces, data segmentation, and data filters. Contains performance tuning parameters. Verify:
    1. Primary interface is up and is listening to both directions of traffic.
    2. Directions of each interface are properly configured. See DNCA Web Console - Interface Tab.
    3. Required Traffic port numbers are correctly set.
    4. Ignored Traffic filters are not filtering wanted data.
    5. If you are using multiple DNCA instances, verify that any data segmentation configuration is directing traffic to the appropriate instance.
    6. Any defined filter rules are properly including or excluding port traffic.
    7. Tuning parameter settings are not impacting system performance.
  4. DNCA Web Console - Delivery Tab - Define and test connections to target recipients of DNCA data. Enable and configure delivery of DNCA statistics to the Windows pipeline. Verify:
    1. Target host names and port numbers are properly specified
    2. For diagnosing issues, delivering DNCA statistics hits to the Windows pipeline enables better tracking of system performance. For more information about the statistics hit, see Stats per Instance.
