Upgrading the databases to the current release
This section describes how to upgrade the Discover databases to the latest version of Discover.

  As you prepare for an installation, you need to gather some items, review hardware and software requirements, and then you can perform the installation.

  - Overview of the Upgrade Process
    The objective of the upgrade is to minimize downtime and data loss. The recommended approach is to suspend the processing components, letting data spool to disk while the Data Collector collects any unaggregated statistical data. The system can then be upgraded. When it is restarted, it will attempt to work off the spooled data until it catches up.

Upgrading the databases to the current release

This section describes how to upgrade the Discover databases to the latest version of Discover.

Depending on how databases are deployed in your Discover environment, you may choose to upgrade the databases inline with upgrading its host server or after you complete your upgrade of the Report Server.

If you have any questions about the process or the steps that are required to upgrade your Discover solution, contact Discover support.
It is possible to upgrade your Discover software and migrate only your event and alert definitions into a new database.
During an upgrade, the Database Manger automatically executes the DCEventManager.exe utility. You can run the DCEventManager.exe utility on the same set of definitions for the same version of the software.
By default, if the Initialize Configuration checkbox is selected, we recommend you to upgrade all the databases immediately.
If you want to upgrade the databases one after the other, after running the DiscoverDatabaseManager.exe utility, access Mode > Data Management and run Initialize Configuration.
