  - Data Export overview
    HCL Discover Data Export provides you with the ability to analyze and report on data captured by Discover within various third-party solutions, including custom reporting tools and databases, warehouses, business intelligence environments, and web analytics products. Additionally, HCL Discover Data Export enables the creation of a persistent store of session data from your web applications.

    - Installing Data Export
      To install Data Export, complete the following steps.
    - Configuring events for Data Export
      In order for events and their data to be made available for export through HCL Discover Data Export, the Searchable and Reportable check box must be selected in the event definition in the Event Manager. This setting must be selected for each event that you want to export through HCL Discover Data Export.
    - Configuration for the data files option
      To use the data files options, you must customize a set of provided scripts to create a set of database tables to receive the outputted database files and to insert data into the databases.

      It is necessary to perform configurations of your HCL Discover deployment. Depending on your Discover solution deployment, more configuration might be necessary.

Adding Data Export server

HCL Discover Data Export requires its own Discover server to manage extraction and data output.

About this task

Procedure

Log in to the Discover Portal as an administrator.
From the Portal menu, select Discover > Manage Portal.
The Manage Portal page appears.
In the left navigation pane, click Discover Servers.
Click the Manage Servers link. The list of currently available Discover servers is displayed.
If a HCL Discover Data Export server does not exist, click New. Select Data Export Server from the drop-down menu.
If a HCL Discover Data Export server exists, select it and click Edit.
Edit the HCL Discover Data Export Server properties.
1. Click the Active check box.
2. Enter the display name for the server. The default value Data Export Server is recommended.
3. From the drop-down, select the server that is hosting the HCL Discover Data Export Server.
4. Enter the port number to use. The default value for HCL Discover Data Export is 19000.
5. Click Save.
The server is added to the list.
