Upgrading the DB2 server

Upgrade the IBM® DB2® server to version 10.5.

About this task

Upgrading the DB2 server is optional because Sametime® 9.0.1 supports DB2 9.5 and DB2 9.7. If you upgrade to DB2 10.1 and you intend to deploy Sametime Advanced Server, you must apply Fix Pack 2 to the DB2 server to ensure support for Net Search Extender.

Procedure

  1. Locate the DB2 server software and download it to the computer where your DB2 server is installed.
    1. Visit IBM Passport Advantage® and Download DB2 10.5 to a temporary location on the DB2 server.
    2. Visit IBM Fix Central, locate 10.5 Fix Pack 7 for your server operating system, download the fix pack to the DB2 server.

To locate the fix pack, search on "DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows" with "10.5" as the version and the appropriate operating system selected.

  2. Upgrade the DB2 server software as explained in the DB2 topic, Upgrade DB2 servers.
  3. Apply Fix Pack 7 to the upgraded DB2 server by following the instructions in the readme file that is included in the fix pack.
  4. Start the DB2 server.
  5. Verify the upgrade and activate databases as explained in the DB2 topic, Post-upgrade tasks for DB2 servers.
  6. Open a command window and run the UPGRADE DATABASE command to ensure that your Sametime databases can be accessed by the upgraded DB2 software.
