How monitoring works

If the Tivoli® Enterprise Portal Monitoring is activated, monitoring is performed for the operations that either have the EXTERNAL MONITOR job option set to YES, or meet the monitoring criteria set by the MONPOL statement.

An HCL Workload Automation for Z event is sent to the Tivoli Enterprise Portal when the following situations occur:
  • Addition of an operation
  • Late operation
  • Operation waiting for resource
  • Start of an operation
  • Long duration of an operation
  • End of an operation
  • Any subsequent status changes to operations that ended in error
  • An operation becomes critical, that is:
    • Eligible for WLM assistance.
    • Included in a critical network. In particular, when the scheduler recalculates a critical path or changes the risk level of an operation.
    • Added to the hot list.
All application occurrences containing monitored operations are also monitored. The Tivoli Enterprise Portal receives events from HCL Workload Automation for Z when the following situations occur:
  • Addition of an application occurrence
  • Start of an application occurrence
  • End of an application occurrence
  • Delete of an application occurrence
