This section describes how to install the Design Server using the Windows Installer.

    The Unica Link Design Server requires the Link Runtime server to be installed.

Microsoft Windows installation

This section describes how to install the Design Server using the Windows Installer.

Install Unica Link runtime using the Windows link installer (do not provide the Flexnet license).
Open command prompt with administrator privileges, access the Link installation location, and execute the following command:
```
Copy C:\<Link installation location>\.passport.platform to C:\<Link installation location>\.passport
```
Install Link Design Server:
1. Change the current folder to C:\HCL\Link_<version number>\DesignServer.
2. Extract the compressed Design Server installation by executing the script unzipDesignServer.bat.
3. Type install.bat and press Enter.
4. Follow the messages on the screen. In the case of an installation error, check the install.log file. The log file displays error messages and possible actions that you can perform to fix the errors.
