Adding dynamic content

You can use dynamic content to display content that changes dynamically based on the rules or conditions set for the communication component.

The communication components for which dynamic content is applicable are:
  • Buttons
  • Images
  • URLs or Links

You can add dynamic content for the following communications:

  • Emails
  • Landing pages
To access the dynamic content feature, you can highlight a component when building an email or a landing page and select the tab Dynamic. Alternatively, you can access the dynamic content feature, by highlighting the component and selecting the icon . In case of URL component, the icon appears within the toolbar.
Note: The icon appears as a dropdown to show the number of dynamic content added to the image.
Note: The following procedure is applicable for both email communications and landing pages.
To add dynamic content to components, complete the following steps:
  1. Create a Email communication or a Landing page. For more information, see Personalized email messaging or Landing pages.
  2. Add the required components.
  3. If you add Buttons, URLs, or Images, you can add dynamic content to these components. To add dynamic content, you can perform either of the following steps:
    1. Highlight the component and select Dynamic > Add Dynamic Content.

      The Create Dynamic Content page appears.

    2. Highlight the component and select the icon.

      The Create Dynamic Content page appears.

  4. Provide values for the following fields:
    Field Button Image Text URL Description
    Rule Name Yes Yes Yes A name given to identify the rule.
    Button Text Yes A name to identify the button.
    Content URL - Hyperlink Yes Yes Yes The URL to open based on the click.
    Content URL - Landing Page Yes Yes Yes The landing page to open based on the click
    Content Source - Select Image Yes Select an image from the system to display.
    Content Source - Enter URL Yes Provide a URL of the image to display the image.
  5. Add or delete Rules or Rule Groups. The parameters available to create rules and rule groups are as follows:
    • Select Field: Select a field for creating the condition based on the field. For example, if you want to create a condition based on Age, select the field Age.
    • Rule Parameters: The condition parameter. The available condition parameters are designed for text-based fields and numeric-based fields only.
    • Rule Target: The value the condition has to meet for the selected field.
  6. Click one of the following buttons:
    • Click Save and Add to save the dynamic content and to add another dynamic content.
    • Click Save and Close to save the dynamic content and to exit the panel.
  7. Upon clicking Save and Close, the Dynamic tab displays:
    • The Default content - The static content configured in the Settings tab for the component.
    • Dynamic content (n) - The dynamic content configured using the Dynamic tab. The (n) in Dynamic content (n) represents the number of dynamic content added to a component. If you have added three dynamic content, the Dynamic tab displays:
      • Dynamic content 1
      • Dynamic content 2
      • Dynamic content 3

      Additionally, when you highlight the component, you will see a number on the the icon. This number also indicates the number of dynamic content added to the component.

      In case of the Image component, a preview of the image appears in the component and changes as you click the icon dropdown and select the available dynamic content.

  8. In case of Dynamic content (n), you can modify it or delete it .
  9. Click Save and Preview to save the changes and see a preview of the changes. The preview displays the default content first and displays dynamic content only whenr the personalization fields have the values and when the conditions set in dynamic content matches the value provided.
  10. If the content is ready to publish, click Save and Publish.
