Mobile app push notifications overview

You can use Deliver to send simple push notifications to a recipient's mobile device lock screens. Simple push uses Android or iOS to render a push notification on a mobile phone's lock screen. You can also use Deliver to send In-App push notifications on the recipient's mobile app for a which presents message in rich and more actionable interface. This chapter uses term push notification to refer to both native lock screen notifications and rich In-App notifications unless specifically stated.

You can target specific mobile app users by running a flowchart in Unica Campaign to create an Output List Table (OLT). The OLT provides the recipient information that is required to personalize the message and identify each mobile device that is supposed to receive the notification.

The diagram illustrates the overall workflow for sending personalized notifications and the major Deliver components that are involved in the process. You must also modify your mobile app to integrate with Deliver.

Table 1. Workflow for personalized push
Description

Standard triggered notifications.

For standard notifications, Deliver supports sending personalized push notifications to a list of mobile app users that you create in Unica Campaign.

The communication defines the appearance and behavior of the notification that the recipient opens.

Configure a notification push.

.

5

Run the push.

You can run the notification push manually or schedule it to run at a specific date and time.

6

Transmit the notifications.

If the push is configured for standard delivery, Deliver sends notifications to all registered app users that are included in the OLT.

7

Users receive the notifications.

8

Download the contact and response data.

The Response and Contact Tracker (RCT) is installed with Campaign behind your corporate firewall. The RCT periodically requests the tracking data that Unica records.

9

Contact and response data is stored in the Deliver system tables.

The RCT stores the data that it receives in various system tables. The Deliver system tables are part of the Campaign database schema.
