For best results, test each Deliver messaging before you use it to send a production messaging.

      A test distribution is a comma-separated list of email addresses. Because test distributions do not contain recipient-related data, they do not cause changes in the personalization fields that are contained in a document.

    You can send a test messaging to test recipients if the recipient list for the messaging includes addresses or phone numbers for SMS and WhatsApp and data for test recipients, or addresses for a seed list. This test sends personalized mailing to seed list addresses and test recipients defined in the recipient.
  - To send a test message using custom settings
    Sending a test message with custom settings allows you to specify your own test parameters. Using custom test settings also allows you to enter a custom test distribution.

    Use this procedure if Unica has configured a default test distribution for your hosted email account. Otherwise, you can conduct a test mailing run to view unique message permutations by performing a test send with custom settings.

Destinations for test mailings

To avoid sending test messages to actual customers and prospects, Deliver allows you to use test lists and test distributions as substitute destinations for the test mailing. The choice between the two depends on the type of test you are performing.

A test list is a generated list created by a Deliver process. It contains addresses and related data for recipients selected by running a flowchart.

A test distribution is a comma-separated list of email addresses. It does not contain additional recipient-related data, nor is the distribution built using a flowchart. Each address is added manually.
