Constant personalization fields in the mailing configuration

The Mailing tab displays a section that lists the constants available for use in the mailing. Constants are text values, including numerical text, that message designers can add to the design of the email, SMS, Push, or WhatsApp message sent with the message. The text specified as the value for the constant appears as the same value in each message.

You define a constant by defining a constant personalization field as a message setting for the entire Campaign installation. However, you specify the value for the constant personalization field on the Mailing tab. Because you create constant personalization fields at the installation level, you can use the same constant personalization field in multiple messages. However, because you configure the field's text value as part of the messaging configuration, the same constant personalization field can display different text in different messages.

You add or remove constants by adding or removing constant personalization fields in the communication that is referenced by the message. If the communication contains constant personalization fields, the name of the constant display on the Mailing tab. You cannot create the constant on the Mailing tab, nor can you add or remove constants from the Mailing tab. A message can define multiple constants if the referenced document contains the required constant personalization fields.

Note: Defining a value for every constant added to a message is not required to configure or run the messaging. However, depending on how and where the constant personalization field appears in the document, the missing constant value might affect how the message appears to the recipient.
