Contents of the Edit Mailing tab

You configure a Deliver message on a tab that you create in Unica Campaign. In edit mode, the tab displays the current configuration settings in editable fields. In the edit mode, the tab is also referred to as the Edit Mailing tab.

The Mailing tab automatically displays in edit mode when you add a message or update an existing message configuration.

For saved messages, click a link on the Summary Mailing tab to display the tab in edit mode.

Name

The name that is used to identify the message in the campaign and in reports. It cannot exceed 64 characters and cannot contain the special characters % * ? | : , < > & / \ "

The message name must be unique within the campaign.

Enabled for A/B Testing (only for emails)

Select this option to send the mailing as an A/B test.

When you enable the mailing for A/B testing, the system removes the option to reference a document to the mailing. In the A/B test configuration, you can associate multiple documents (or multiple versions of the same document) to the mailing.

Communication

The name of the communication that is referenced by the message.

Includes the Select a Communication link. The link opens a dialog box that you use to reference a communication to the message. The Select a Communication window contains the Enter Communication to search field. Type the required string and click Search. The results that match the search string appear.

Recipient List

The name of the recipient list that is referenced by the message. Provides a menu to reference a list to the message.

Content Type to Send (only for emails)

The format of the message sent to message recipients. You must select one of the following.

  • HTML and text

    Deliver sends a multi-part email

  • HTML only

    Deliver sends only the HTML version of the message.

  • Text only

    Deliver sends only the text version of the message.

The message uses the latest published version of the content. If the content you selected is not published, the system displays an error message and the system does not start the messaging run.

An alphanumeric value that is generated by Deliver to uniquely identify the message. You can modify this value. The message code can include underscore(_) and hyphen(-) characters, but it cannot exceed 64 characters. The messaging code must be unique within the Unica Platform.

Outbound Rate Limit (Messages per Hour)

Specify the approximate rate (in messages per hour) at which you want Deliver to transmit email messages.

The default value is 0. A value of 0 indicates that there is no limit on the transmission rate. To specify a limit, enter a number.

Logging and Tracking Level

Specifies how Deliver will track message delivery and link clicks during and after a run of the message.

Deliver tracks Message and Link level events.

How long to track message links (days)

Specifies how long the link remains active and how long the system receives and forwards link responses to the Deliver system tables.

By default, the system tracks links for 90 days. To specify a shorter time period, enter the number of days.

Links in test messages are active for up to 7 days. You can specify a different link expiration for test messages when you run the test message.

For production messages, enter a value between 1 and 90.

For test messages, enter a value between 1 and 7.

Constant Personalization Field Values

The Constant Personalization Field Values section identifies the constant personalization fields that are present in the communication that is referenced by the message. The communication can contain multiple constant personalization fields.

Each constant personalization field is listed on the Mailing tab individually by name. An editable field displays below each field name where you enter a text value for the constant personalization field.
