Creating a web page version of an HTML email communication

You can provide email recipients with an option to view HTML or text-only email as a web page by saving the email as a personalized landing page hosted by Unica.

About this task

After you create the landing page version of the email, you create a link to the landing page in the original email message. Because Unica hosts the page, the landing page version of the email can replicate much of the personalization that you added to the HTML version.

Note: Hosted landing pages do not support personalization features that you create with Deliver advanced scripts for email.

Another way to provide this option is to add a View as Web Page link to a zone in the email.

Procedure

  1. Open the email communication for editing.
  2. In the toolbar, click Save Changes As Diskette with plus sign image.
  3. Select a folder location and enter a name for the landing page.
  4. In the Channel field, select Landing page.
  5. Click OK. When prompted, publish the communication and all referenced landing pages.
  6. In the original email message, add a link in a zone. On the Link tab of the hyperlink widget, select Landing page and direct the link to the landing page version of the email.
  7. Click Save Changes Diskette image.

What to do next

To examine the new landing page version of the email, click Preview Green circle with page and magnifying glass image in the email communication. In Preview, click the link to the landing page version of the email.

The landing page version opens as a separate tab. You can confirm that the landing page version of the email accurately replicates the HTML version. For example, change sample data for personalization fields to confirm that the expected content changes occur in both the HTML and the landing page versions of the email.

Note: In the landing page, the link to the web page version of the email is visible, but disabled.
