Forward to a Friend overview

When you add a Forward to a friend link in an email communication, each email recipient sees a Forward to a Friend link in the personalized email that they receive. When the recipient clicks the link, Unica displays hosted landing pages to provide address submission and confirmation forms. You can modify the hosted pages to suit your brand.

Add the Forward to a Friend link to an email communication. Optionally, customize the submission and confirmation pages.

Send personalized email as part of a mailing.

The recipient opens the email and clicks the Forward to a Friend link.

Unica displays the hosted submission page to the recipient. The recipient can enter up to 5 email addresses.

The system displays a confirmation page to the original recipient to acknowledge receipt of the forwarded messages.

Unica sends copies of the original message, including the original personalized elements, to the various forwarding addresses.

The system creates a separate record in the Deliver system tables for each forwarded message. The records appear in the UCC_Envelope table and are identified with a value of 2 in the ContactType field. Each new record references the ContactEmail and AudienceId that was recorded for the original email recipient. The system does not record the email forwarding addresses.

The system tracks message opens and link clicks in the forwarded messages and attributes the responses to the original email recipient and original mailing. The response data from the forwarded messages, including message bounce data, also appears in standard link tracking reports.
