Adding a view as web page option

You add an option to view an email as a web page by adding a view as web page link to a zone. You cannot add a view as web page hyperlink in the HTML code for an email template. The view as web page option is available for email communications only.

Procedure

  1. Open the email communication for editing and locate the zone where you want to add the link.
  2. Add a link to the zone with any of the following methods.
    • Drag a Hyperlink widget Hyperlink icon: Chain links into the zone.
    • Right-click in the zone and select Add content > Hyperlink.
    • Drag the View As Web Page widget Hyperlink icon: Chain links into the zone.
  3. On the Body tab, format how the link displays in the email. Use one of the following options.

By default, the link displays according to the format defined in the HTML tag that defines the zone. You can override the template formatting and define various standard HTML attributes.

    • Select Text and enter text to display as the link. You can include a personalization field in the text.
    • Select Image URL and specify a remote image by entering the URL for the image. The image must be hosted on a publicly available server.
    • Select Image Content and click Image from Content Library, icon with landscape to select an image from the Content Library.
  4. Optionally, you can override formatting that is defined in the template by specifying different HTML attributes for the link. Open the Formatting Options section of the Body tab.

If Use formatting from template is selected, clear it and define custom HTML attributes for the link.

  5. If you added the link with the Hyperlink widget or the right-click option, click the Link tab and select View as Web Page.

View as Web Page is automatically selected if you used the View As Web Page widget.

  6. Click OK.
  7. Save and publish the communication.

What to do next

To examine the new landing page version of the email, click Preview Green circle with page and magnifying glass image in the email communication. In Preview, click the link to the landing page version of the email.

The landing page version opens as a separate tab. You can confirm that the landing page version of the email accurately replicates the HTML version. For example, change sample data to confirm that the expected content changes occur in both the HTML and the landing page versions of the email.

Note: In the landing page version of the email, the View as Web Page link is not visible.
