Unica Deliver is a web-based, enterprise scale marketing message solution that you can use to conduct outbound bulk messaging and transactional messaging campaigns. Deliver integrates with Unica Campaign and with secure message composition, transmission, and tracking resources that are hosted by Unica.
Personalized messaging
Unica Deliver provides message composition and personalization features that you can use to design graphically rich messages that deliver a marketing message with content that can automatically change to fit the characteristics of the message recipient.
Personalized email messaging
Creating and sending standard personalized email requires that you create a recipient list in Unica Campaign and design an email message in the Message Editor. However, personalized email that is sent as transactional email does not take information from a recipient list. For transactional email, personalization data must be included in the message request.
Email address and subject line
Email communications contain a header section in which you enter email address information. The header contains fields to identify the sender, specify the message recipient, and enter an email subject line. You can use personalization fields in any of the header fields to customize the email address and subject. Some header fields are populated by default, but you can change the default values.
Email subject line
The email subject line identifies your message and is the first part of your message that the recipient sees. A descriptive and compelling subject line often makes it more likely that the recipient will open your message. You can create a single subject line for all messages, or create highly personalized subject lines for each message that you send.
Entering a single email subject line in the email header
To create a single email subject line, enter or paste the subject text in the Subject field of the email header. You cannot add image or HTML content to the subject field.

- Selecting email recipients
  If you install and enable Unica Deliver within Campaign, then you can create a list that defines the recipients for a personalized messaging campaign. The list contains the recipient information that is used to address and personalize each message. You create a recipient list by configuring a Deliver process in a Campaign flowchart.

      To create email that is delivered to the recipient in HTML format, you must create an HTML communication that you can reference to a mailing. The email communication is based on an HTML template that provides the framework for the email message. You then use the Message Editor to modify the template by adding various content elements.

      You can provide email recipients with an option to view HTML or text-only email as a web page by saving the email as a personalized landing page hosted by Unica.
    - Personalization field data types in communications
      When you add a personalization field to a communication, a personalization rule, or an advanced script, the field name and data type must exactly match the name and data type that is defined for the field in the OLT. The OLT and the communication must be referenced to the same mailing to enable the system to complete the required validation.

      Give email recipients the ability to view your message in a browser by adding a view as web page option to HTML and text-only email. As an alternative, you can also save the email communication as a hosted landing page and then link to the hosted page in the original email.

      You can use Deliver to create email messages that are formatted only as text. To create email that is delivered to the recipient in text format, you must work with a text-only template.
    - Auto-generating a text version of an HTML email communication
      In Unica Deliver, you can use an HTML email to generate a text-only mail. The text-only version of the email is based on the HTML template that defines the HTML email layout. This method is called auto-generating the text email. By auto-generating a text email, you can take advantage of the design effort that is already invested in creating the HTML version.
    - Email address and subject line
      Email communications contain a header section in which you enter email address information. The header contains fields to identify the sender, specify the message recipient, and enter an email subject line. You can use personalization fields in any of the header fields to customize the email address and subject. Some header fields are populated by default, but you can change the default values.

        You can include personalization fields in the email header to create a dynamic email address. Select an OLT personalization field to provide information that is specific to each email recipient. For example, select a personalization field to provide the destination mailbox of the recipient.
      - Static information in address fields
        If you enter simple text into the address lines in the email header, you create a static address. Using a static email address in the To field is typically reserved for testing purposes only.
      - Entering the sender address
        The sender address appears in the header as the From address line. You must provide a sender address. A mailing that references the email communication will fail to run if you do not provide a sender address.
      - Email domain selection
        When you create an email message, you must specify the email domain from which the messages are sent. Select the email domain in the From: address line of the email header. Depending on the configuration of your hosted messaging account, you might have multiple domains from which to choose.
      - Entering the recipient address
        The recipient address is the complete email address that appears as the To: address for each email that you send. You can also configure a display name that displays as a friendly name for the recipient email address.
      - Entering a Reply To address
        You can enter a mailbox or select a personalization field that provides a mailbox that serves as the mailbox for email replies. Specifying a Reply To mailbox is optional. Depending on the sender email domain that you select for the email, the system can forward recipient replies to the Deliver system tables in your local HCL Unica installation.
      - Precautions for the Bcc address
        Some business situations might require that you send a private copy of an email to other mailboxes in addition to the one in the To: line. To send a copy of the email without notifying the addressee, add an email address in the Bcc: line of the email header.
      - Email subject line

        In the Deliver Message Editor, you can create multiple conditionalized subject lines for your email. You can define up to 10 different subject lines according to criteria that you specify in personalization rules.

        The Rules Spreadsheet defines specific subject rows where you can add, conditionalize, and manage multiple subject lines. Use the spreadsheet to manage conditional subject lines and conditional content in zones from a single interface.
        Guidelines for writing email subject lines
        When you enter text for email subject lines, consider the possible effects on email deliverability and the reaction of the email recipient.
    - Email unsubscribe or opt-out options
      To comply with the CAN-SPAM Act and other similar regulations of email practices, you must enable your email recipients to unsubscribe, or opt-out, of email messages that advertise or promote a commercial product or service.
    - Option to share marketing messages on social networks
      You can expand the reach of your marketing message by encouraging email recipients to share your email on social networks. When you include social network links, email recipients need only one click to share your content with a broader audience. Deliver provides a widget to create and format links to the most popular social networks.

      A Forward to a Friend link provides email recipients with a convenient way to forward a copy of your marketing email to people that they know. Because Unica tracks the forwarding requests, you can measure your ability to use this method to encourage your customers to promote your message and brand.

  Creating and configuring a Deliver message creates the framework for organizing and running a marketing campaign.
- About testing Deliver mailings
  Testing a messaging allows you to identify and resolve any problems that might exist with your messaging list, verify how the message will appear to each recipient, and address issues that might interfere with efficient transmission and delivery of your communication. For best results, test each Deliver messaging before you use it to send a production messaging.

  Digital marketers construct email, landing pages, WhatsApp messages, and text messages in Unica Deliver in the Deliver Message Editor. Marketers without specific HTML editing experience can create valid, full-featured HTML email and landing pages with the editing and personalization tools in the Message Editor.

  Email and landing page templates are documents that you create outside of the Deliver Message Editor to define the layout of personalized email, hosted landing pages. The design of the template guides the design of the message. To create personalized email, marketers add content to the template by modifying the template or by using editing tools that are provided in the Message Editor.

Preview simulates how personalized parts of the Deliver document used to create the email, landing page, SMS, WhatsApp may change according to the personal characteristics of each recipient.

  Publishing the communication in the Deliver Message Editor makes the communication and the resources it contains available for use in a personalized message or landing page. Publishing a communication does not transmit the communication to message recipients or landing page visitors.   Deliver provides a template-based scripting language for creating self-contained scripts that provide a way to personalize content in ways that you cannot easily duplicate in the Deliver Message Editor.

  You can add offers that you define in Unica Campaign to personalized email that you create and send through Unica Deliver. Including offers in your marketing email gives you an opportunity to deliver a timely and targeted call to action to your audience. The system collects the offer responses and makes the data available in the Campaign contact and response history for use in Campaign performance reports.

Entering a single email subject line in the email header

To create a single email subject line, enter or paste the subject text in the Subject field of the email header. You cannot add image or HTML content to the subject field.

To create a personalized email subject, you can include personalization fields in the subject line. If you want to create a personalized subject line, position the cursor where you want the personalized content to appear and click Insert Personalization Field Insert personalization field icon . During the mailing run, the value of the personalization field appears in the email subject.
