Overriding template attributes for images and links in a zone

By default, HTML attributes in the communication template define the appearance and behavior of images and links in a zone. However, in each zone, you can selectively override the template formatting to define different attributes for individual images or links.

About this task

You must format each image or link individually. For zones that contain multiple images or links, you can define different formatting for each image or link in the zone.

Procedure

  1. In a zone, right-click the image or link that you want to format.
  2. Select Edit content formatting.

The Basic Attributes window displays the current attributes for the link or image. If Use formatting from template is selected, the attributes that are defined for the zone in the template are visible, but are not accessible.

  3. In the Basic Attributes window, clear Use formatting from template.
  4. Edit the attributes that you want to change.
    • Click Clear Fomatting to clear all currently displayed format settings.
    • Click Undo to revert the most recent selection.

As you enter values for basic attributes, the values that can define the style attribute display simultaneously in the Style field. Controlling content appearance with the style attribute can help to ensure consistent performance in email clients and web browsers.

When entering values for Height, Width, and Font Size, do not add a space between the quantity and the unit of measure.

What to do next

You can also define advanced formatting attributes for the image or link. Use the advanced formatting options to apply any valid HTML attribute that is not available as a basic attribute.

Preview the communication to confirm the changes in the appearance of the image or link.
