Editing content in zones

The Message Editor provides various editing options when you double-click or right-click a zone. Double-clicking the zone opens a window where you can access all content elements that are contained in the zone. When you right-click a zone, you can operate on the currently displayed content element.

About this task

You can make the following changes to content elements in a zone.

  • Replace the current content element with a different content element from the Content Library.
  • Override the default template formatting for the zone
  • Define HTML attributes separately for individual links or images dropped into the zone.
  • Edit the content element properties or edit the file that is attached to the content element.

Procedure

  1. In the zone, access the content element that you want to edit. Use either of the following options. Right-click in a zone or right-click a content thumbnail in the Personalized content window for the zone.
    • Display the content element in the zone and right-click the zone.
    • Double-click the zone to open the Personalized content window. Right-click the content element that you want to edit.
  2. In the menu that displays, select one of the following options.
    • Replace asset Opens the content selector in the Content Library. Select another content element to replace the selected content element.
    • Edit content formatting By default, HTML attributes defined in the communication template determine the appearance of content dropped into a zone. However, you can override the template formats for images and links that are dropped into the zone. To enter custom HTML attributes, clear the Use formatting from template option to assign basic and advanced HTML attributes to individual links and images in a zone.
    • Edit asset. Opens the content element tab for the selected content element. Edit the content element properties or edit the file that is attached to the content element.
  3. Save your changes.

You must publish the document to make the new content visible to email recipients or page visitors.
