Content element properties tab

Properties for each content element in the Content Library are contained in a separate tab. The tab provides various options to edit the properties of the content element and to select and preview assets that are attached to the content element.

The table describes the options available on the content element properties tab.

Field or option Function

Folder

The folder in the Content Library where the content element is stored. If you move the content element to a different folder, the tab displays the new location the next time you open the tab.

Type

Static content Select to create a content element that is associated with a single digital asset.

Dynamic content Select to create a content element that is associated with multiple assets.

Is template

Select when the attached file is an HTML file that is used as a template for email or landing pages.

Create file Select this and click Create new file to create a new text or HTML file. The file that you create provides the source for the content element. Save the content element in the Content Library. You can then drop the content, including the new HTML or text content, into a zone or you can reference the content element in a template or snippet.

Variation field

The personalization field that determines which variation displays in an email or landing page. The field must be configured with multiple values to be listed in the drop-down menu.

Remove all variations

Clears all variations. An empty variation remains visible with no content selected.

Field value

Enter or select a value for the variation field that must be true for the email recipient or landing page visitor to display the variation. The drop-down menu lists values already defined for the field, but you can enter a different value. The value must exactly match the personalization field value that exists in the OLT.

Filename

Name of the file that you upload for the variation. Double-click the name to change the file.

Default

Select to make the variation the default variation. You must select a default variation. However, you can select only 1 default variation. The default variation is always at the top of the list of variations.

Reference Label

Enter a name for a Content Library Reference Label that identifies the content element.

You can add the attached content to a template or HTML snippet by referencing this value in a <UAEreferenceLabel> tag.

Find Label References icon

Find Label References Click to display a list of templates and other content elements that include the current content element by reference. The list displays in a separate tab.

Preview Section

A preview of the asset that is attached to the content element displays in the preview section. When you add or change an asset, you must save the changes to preview the asset.

Preview icon

Preview the attached file in a separate window.

Download icon

Download the attached file from the Content Library to a local directory or accessible server.

Edit icon

Edit the attached file. Available only when you attach a text or HTML file to the content element. This option opens the content in a text editor in the preview section of the tab.

Note: The embedded graphical HTML editor is not available in a content element properties tab.
